Ladybird 1a
Thursday, January 8th, 2009Arthur actually read the whole book “Play with us” 1A by Ladybird all on his own today. It is impressive how fast his reading is progressing. Considering he is not quite 3 yet, he is doing well.

Because our car is at the mechanics, Amirah and her Mummy came with Mummy to collect Arthur from school to go swimming. It was the start of a new swimming term. Apparently, they are thinking of not giving certificates at the end of the course because it constitutes too much paper work!
Mummy was showing Arthur a picture of Arthur on her phone and she asked Arthur… “Who is that?” and Arthur replied, “Arthur.” Mummy then said, “then, who are you?”.
“I am Arthur!”, he replied.
“Two Arthurs? It cannot be.” Mummy said.
“I am a different Arthur!” Arthur exclaimed.
How do you reason with that?
It was also the first time that Mummy heard Arthur use the word Different.
Arthur had a wonderful day at school. Arthur learnt all about what happens to food once we eat it. This is the way he describes it…
It goes in my mouth and then down my oesophogus. Then it goes into my stomach, then small intestine and then large intestine, then out my bum!
Mummy did try to get him to say bottom but he finds bum almost hilarious!
Needless to say it was quite a mouthful of words and new vocabulary. Mummy managed to film it when Arthur explained to Daddy about the digestive system.
Arthur did start school today. Grandmama took Arthur to school. Arthur knew that Grandmama and Grandpapa were leaving today while he was at school. This upset him alot and he cried alot. Thankfully he settled down after a while and enjoyed his day at school. He did letters which he was happy about. He was also happy that he gave out his invitations for his party at school.
Mummy sent Arthur to school with Grandmama today. Except… school was closed. Arthur was upset that it was closed (which is a good thing as he did not originally want to go). Mummy accidentally assumed that school started on the Monday and not the Tuesday! Mummy is very embarrassed.
After church Mummy, Grandmama, Grandpapa and Arthur went to collect Daddy so that we proceed to lunch except that the car refused to start again. So we did not end up going to lunch but we stayed and ate at home.
Arthur wishes everyone a Happy New Year!
Aunty Jo had to leave today. Arthur was very sad.
Arthur was every so disappointed this morning because “Santa didn’t come!”. So Mummy took Arthur back to his bedroom to check and found his stocking was overflowing. He must have stepped over the present that could not fit in the stocking and had fallen on the floor! He was so excited when he realised he had lots of presents from Santa.
When Arthur went downstairs he found that Santa ate the mince pie and drank the Sherry but the reindeer did not eat all the carrot and a small piece was still left. Arthur was worried for the reindeer. Then he saw a huge present and was ever so excited. It was a marble game - rollercoaster! I think that’s a new word!
He received so many presents, he actually was tired of opening them.
We celebrated Christmas together eating and opening presents. It was so nice to see Arthur so excited about it all.
