Arthur’s First Steps

We had a pretty bad night last night. Arthur woke up at midnight. Then again at about half three. As Mummy did not realise the time and Daddy was away for the night, Arthur joined Mummy in bed. Not a good idea. Especially as he took it as time to get up and jump on Mummy. It also did not help that Mummy was up late working on an assignment. But Arthur has a wonderful Grandmama, who on hearing Arthur was awake came to Mummy’s rescue and took Arthur, fed him breakfast, took him for a walk, had a picnic with him, played with him, changed him and put him to sleep (as he was tired by then) all by 11am! Needless to say Mummy was very impressed and Arthur was a very happy bunny!

To top it off, while on the walk with Grandmama, Arthur made a new friend. She even gave him her toy! Honestly, Arthur you will be breaking a few girls hearts before you are even aware they exist!

Arthur has 2 new teeth. He has his 2 top incisors. He kept feeling around in his mouth. It seemed a little different to usual the way he was feeling his mouth. So Mummy asked to look in his mouth and oddly he let Mummy feel and then even look. Mummy could feel the point of the 2 teeth. Mummy was quite surprised with the one but even more surprised by the second. Mummy realised there were too as Arthur seemed to show her.

Arthur seemed really pleased that Mummy was happy with his teeth. He even showed them to Grandmama. Just to prove how happy he seemed with them. Babies generally hate letting anyone near their mouths especially when teething unless to bite!

Arthur also used the potty for Mummy again. After he defecated he got up. As Mummy congratulated him, he proudly started wetting everywhere. The carpet under him got soaked. Thankfully it was the movable carpet that can go into the washing machine. Mummy tried to get him to aim at the potty and Arthur seemed to think that was funny. He started trying to move his bowels again, so Mummy put him on the potty again. When he finished he stood up and wet the floor again! Opps! Mummy is worried about him getting the wrong idea of potty training! We will keep moving slowly on the potty training. Just so he gets used to sitting on it and knowing what its for. Good for just before bath-times and other such times.

This morning we took Grandmama to the Nurse. Arthur was actually really good, especially considering he was there a few days earlier and jabbed.

Then we went to Breastfeeding Group. Grandmama came with us too. Amirah stayed on Mummy while Arthur went round playing. There was a point where he was a bit upset that Amirah was on Mummy rather than himself, so he tried getting Amirah off so he could go on. Mummy solved it by keeping both Amirah and Arthur on her knees.

After BF Arthur was exhausted and fell asleep. He was completely asleep and he did not even notice Daddy joining us for Lunch. We had lunch at Al Capone’s but Arthur slept right through it. Arthur ate a whole Cornish pasty instead, for his lunch! Yes, a whole one!!

We then spent a long time shopping in town, and headed home just before dinner time.

We went for Sunday Lunch to a Chinese Restaurant. It coincided with Chinese New Year. Arthur did really well eating. He ate prawn crackers (obviously), duck in pancakes, spring rolls, onion rings, Chinese mushrooms and some other little bits and pieces. He also drank half a glass of milk.

Maybe one day, Arthur will celebrate Chinese New Year in China.

Grandmama took Arthur for quite a few walks. Arthur really enjoys it. First they went to the swings. The second time Arthur went walking on his own, without buggy or trike.

Arthur also said “white” for Grandmama.

This morning Grandmama took Arthur to his Rucksack Music Class. He started off not wanting to join in but then joined in very happily. Then Grandmama took him to the swings. Isn’t he a lucky boy?

Arthur has learnt how to sing “Yummy Yummy Yummy, I’ve got love in my tummy!”
Grandmama keeps singing it to him and he sings “Yummy Yummy Yummy!” He is so cute when singing.

Poor Arthur has a red bump on his left thigh where he received his immunisation! Hope it gets better soon.

Arthur had an appointment with Nurse Jean to get immunised. During Mummy’s appointment with Dr Sharpe are was checked for an ear infection (as he has been rubbing his ears recently) and had his temperature tested. It was bang on 37 Degrees. We then went to Nurse Jean who had to give Arthur 2 injections. So to get it over as quickly as possible, Nurse Jean and a student Nurse did a 3-2-1 countdown and injected Arthur in his thighs. Poor Arthur never saw it coming. He was happily playing with Mummy when he looked at Mummy with surprise, and his hand went down to his thigh and he cried out. Mummy cuddled Arthur and made it all better but not without feeling rather guilty. At least it passes quickly, whereas if he got sick with any illness, he would suffer far longer.

Arthur received a dose of calpol at the end of the day, just to help him stop feeling so poorly.

Arthur is feeling a bit under the weather. He has a runny nose and hardly ate all day except for fish fingers which he seems to really like.

This morning we went to Breastfeeding Group. This may be one of the last times we go! Sad. The end of an era! Lesley & Ellie were there for old times sake. As was Amirah & Cathy.

Grandmama then met us after Breastfeeding Group. We all went to Lunch and even Daddy joined us. It was at The Strand Shopping Centre. Daddy had to go back to work, but Ellie, Amirah & Arthur went to play at Dragon’s Castle. They had a wonderful time.

Afterwards we went shopping and headed back home.

Arthur can stack rounded shapes on top of each other 5 high! Daddy & Mummy were very impressed.

Arthur is 13 Months old today. Can you believe it?

Grandmama took Arthur off for a walk and took him to the swings. Needless to say, Arthur did not want to come back home but wanted to stay on the swings!

Arthur seems to be coming down with a cold. He has a runny nose and sounds very sniffly!
