Ladybird 1a
Thursday, January 8th, 2009Arthur actually read the whole book “Play with us” 1A by Ladybird all on his own today. It is impressive how fast his reading is progressing. Considering he is not quite 3 yet, he is doing well.

Mummy was showing Arthur a picture of Arthur on her phone and she asked Arthur… “Who is that?” and Arthur replied, “Arthur.” Mummy then said, “then, who are you?”.
“I am Arthur!”, he replied.
“Two Arthurs? It cannot be.” Mummy said.
“I am a different Arthur!” Arthur exclaimed.
How do you reason with that?
It was also the first time that Mummy heard Arthur use the word Different.
Arthur had a wonderful day at school. Arthur learnt all about what happens to food once we eat it. This is the way he describes it…
It goes in my mouth and then down my oesophogus. Then it goes into my stomach, then small intestine and then large intestine, then out my bum!
Mummy did try to get him to say bottom but he finds bum almost hilarious!
Needless to say it was quite a mouthful of words and new vocabulary. Mummy managed to film it when Arthur explained to Daddy about the digestive system.
Arthur was every so disappointed this morning because “Santa didn’t come!”. So Mummy took Arthur back to his bedroom to check and found his stocking was overflowing. He must have stepped over the present that could not fit in the stocking and had fallen on the floor! He was so excited when he realised he had lots of presents from Santa.
When Arthur went downstairs he found that Santa ate the mince pie and drank the Sherry but the reindeer did not eat all the carrot and a small piece was still left. Arthur was worried for the reindeer. Then he saw a huge present and was ever so excited. It was a marble game – rollercoaster! I think that’s a new word!
He received so many presents, he actually was tired of opening them.
We celebrated Christmas together eating and opening presents. It was so nice to see Arthur so excited about it all.
Arthur started school at the Montessori today. Mummy & Daddy walked Arthur to school for 8.45am. He seemed to have a really good day. Apparently he did “Puzzles”.
Mummy then took Arthur into town to buy Arthur some new slippers. Mummy bought Arthur a pair of Roary Slippers that light up and a pair of Spider Man Trainers that also light up!
Mummy & Arthur went with Grandpapa for dinner at Alessandro’s. Arthur wanted to go to KFC but then was happy to go to Alessandro’s as long as he could eat Pasta. He did not want Pizza!
Arthur started his Preschool Swimming Class. He was the youngest. Amirah was also in the class. The rest of the children are all preschoolers. 2 of them even cried most of the time. Grandpapa was there to watch too.
We are so proud of him!
After swimming we went to KFC for a late lunch / early dinner. Arthur ate a medium box of popcorn chicken, fries and a couple of corn. He then even ate an ice-cream.
After that we went to feed the birds. There were Pigeons, Black Birds and Sea Gulls. Arthur can recognise and say all the 3 types of birds names.
Arthur made Egg Bread with Daddy and then was whisked off with Grandmama for a few bus rides. Arthur enjoys riding on the buses!
When Arthur returned, he helped lay the table. This time correctly even with side plates.
Arthur has a new expression too – “Not ever again!”. He sounds so cute saying it.
This morning Arthur received a package from DHL. Arthur instantly knew it was his and wanted to open it. It was a scooter. Arthur was overjoyed by it. It even lights up. It was from Grandmama. Arthur immediately wanted to call up Grandmama to say Thank You for his scooter.
(The hall is already tired of the scooter!!)
So in order to encourage use of the letters, we all play games. One of Arthur’s favourite of these games is when he recognises the letter on a chocolate, says the letter and what it is for, and then eats the chocolate. So, after dinner today Arthur wanted his chocolate. He picked the letter L and said “L is for Lephant!”
Mummy and Daddy were rolling about laughing. You must be honest, you can see the logic in it!!
Arthur was playing on his aqua draw and actually drew a face. Ok it was not perfect but it was definately recognizable as a face. He drew the eyes, nose and mouth too. My biggest regret is that I did not take a photo of it, as with aqua draw the picture fades after a little while. He even explained the face to us. Mummy and Daddy could not believe it, so Arthur was asked to draw another face and he did!
He also said “Idea” today.
